Amazing song!

Listen, Rimes's version could have been used in the movie. It IS that good. The producer's probably wanted an older woman singing the song because it was more apropos. Rimes's version is more popular, and Yearwood's more country, and each have been recognized for their individual merits. I happen to like Rimes's better.

Take heart viewer, no one can deny the spectacular voice of Leann Rimes nor her splendid performance of this song, it's just that Trishas voice has a certain appealingly yearnful quality that happens to be particularly suited to this song...thats all.

The facts speak for themselves. Thirty million people believe that LeAnn Rimes's version is a good record. That might not mean anything to you or someone else, BUT the fact that it is the ONLY record in history to be on the Billboard 100 for 69 speaks VOLUMES. Whether you personally likeYearwood's version better, that is up to you; it is a good record. However, to deny that Rimes's version is not a good record because it did not win a Grammy, is preposterous.

A lot of records sell a lot but that doesn't make them good.
yulelovethebeats (December 31, 1969 at 4:59 pm)
But in the court of public opinion, Rimes's version outsold Yearwood's by millions. AND, hold the present day record of being in Billboard 100, 69 weeks.

Yearwood and Rimes were both up for the Grammy for this song. Trisha won it. I think that says it all.
